Liquid heat sink test bench

Measurement of liquid heat sinks

With this test stand, we are able to carry out precise measurements of thermal resistances, pressure losses and mass flows. The measurements serve as the basis for the design of a heat sink and coolants.

Depending on the viscosity of the cooling medium, temperatures between -40 ° C and 120 ° C are possible. for further information also see the following article in the Elektronik Praxis.

Based on the thermal transient method, the first measured variable is the thermal resistance through heat transfer (Rth = 1 / alpha A) and NOT the heat transfer coefficient. This has the advantage that no reference area has to be defined. In connection with numerical simulation calculations, the measurements are ideally suited for the optimization of heat sink geometries.
